The Embassy in Accra is accredited to the following countries; Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali, Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, The Gambia and Senegal. Norway is represented by honorary consulates in most of these countries (link). Note that there has not yet been appointed an honorary consul to Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire.
The Embassy’s agenda will among other topics be focusing on the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation and development initiatives in West-Africa. The development policy is embedded in the Norwegian Government’s Strategy for West-Africa, where key areas are considered to be Energy, Trade Development Cooperation, Regional Security, and Environment and Climate issues in the region, with emphasis on Ghana, Liberia and Mali.
On the consular side the Embassy will be responsible for providing consular assistance to Norwegians in the region, such as issuing passports and facilitating in other various matters.
In addition, we will also administer a visa section handling cases from Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, The Gambia and Senegal. Kindly note that the visa section will not be operational before February-March 2012 at the earliest. More information will be published when applicable.
